Your kind generosity makes everything possible.
Most HIO expenses are related to our boots-on-the ground programming in Nepal. Unforeseen challenges brought on by the global health crisis stretched our 2020 social services budget, providing much-needed relief to the 200 families we serve. Plans to expand our women’s education program were put on hold, and grant funding was held in reserve for 2021. U.S. expenses are kept low with no central office generating overhead. Both U.S. directors have always worked from home.
We are humbled by an immeasurable outpouring of support from loyal sponsors and donors in 2020. Vital gifts helped ease struggles to pay teachers who were putting in very long days. Year-end donations in 2019 and 2020 have built a healthy reserve for girls earning college degrees and learning vocational trades. With HIO girls doing their part to earn seats in medical, law and business programs, it’s our privilege to be the wind at their backs.
