HIO's Higher Education Dreamers Fund will empower young women seeking financial assistance for college, graduate school and technical training within East Asia. READ MORE
A yearly donation of $890 ($500 if shared) covers tuition, books, uniform, healthcare and emergency family relief for a girl in one of our partner schools in Kathmandu, from kindergarten through 12th grade. READ MORE
Bal Kendra Learning Center
At the Bal Kendra Learning Center, 75 children who might otherwise spend the day on the street actively engage in Montessori-oriented preschool classrooms, taught in both Nepali and English. READ MORE
Strong Roots Preschool
Located in one of the poorest slums of Kathmandu, Strong Roots Preschool provides free education to 50 neighborhood children who would not otherwise have a chance to go to school. READ MORE
Mothers' Education Program
This project helps to promote basic literacy, financial skills and self-reliance among the mothers of HIO-sponsored girls—improving their lives and the lives of their children. READ MORE
Special Program: Coming of Age Project
Our loving guidance and support are vitally important to HIO girls as they navigate awkward teenage years. We’re committed to helping our adolescent girls understand, take care of, and be proud of their developing bodies. HIO interventions help girls build the confidence needed to break down cultural barriers—barriers that lead to harsh, dead-end lives on the street for far too many Nepali women. READ MORE
Special Program: Piggy Bank Project
Shifting our girls’ understanding of how financial systems work could help break the endless cycle of poverty they live in. In August, 2018, our Nepal staff gave piggy banks to girls at the Bijeswori School and encouraged them to save. The first Piggy Bank Project was so rewarding, we decided to expand it. Each and every HIO girl will now receive piggy banks of her own. READ MORE
